Post by Zziyappe »

Hello, I Purchased a 84 GL 1200A Goldwing last year and I am going to change the oil and antifreeze but I was wondering what is the best oil to put back into it??? Also, do I use regular car antifreeze or do I need something special??

Green & Silicate Free AF only.

Oil, mine loved Delo 400LE 15W-40 oil & a new oil filter cartridge (comes with the O-rings (1 big, 1 small) … but not always needed).

Good ol' green full-strength Prestone is silicate-free though it doesn't say so on the jug. Someone on the forum e-mailed Prestone to ask....

I'm using Shell Rotella T6 5w40 diesel oil in my bikes (cars, too). JASO-MA certified, no "Anti-friction" additives (good for wet clutch). Available even at Walmart.
A local inventor has figured a way to turn a sausage grinder backward to manufacture pigs.
