1200a when I hit gas theres no power

Post by Tbrown92 »

Question, 1986 1200a gears are going through fine but any gear I'm in when I give a decent amount of throttle it revs up like it wants to gain speed but dosent, it sounds kinda like you throttle hard in stones do a burnout and then it catches and gains speed but this is happening on blacktop

That's a slipping clutch. If you used automotive oil containing friction modifiers, this can cause clutch slippage like this. If not, then the likely cause is a worn clutch in need of replacement.

First bike I've owned, was told I could use shell SAE 15w40 so that's what I used when I did oil change about 100 miles ago, you thinking I should do another oil change into what kind of oil then??? Was the T4 shell 15w40

now knowing what oil was in it before the current oil change,
I would buy some Sea Foam and pour in 4oz to the crankcase.

ride it gently for 100-200 miles and then drain it out,
refill with your Dyno 15w40, make sure the bottom side of the circle is blank....
if it is blank, it does not have Friction Modifiers

Since it just started doing it, not but 2 miles ago, would it be okay to drain oil n put the dyno 15 40 in and it be okay or is that sea foam a have to

what the Sea Foam will do, is dissolve any varnish on the clutch plates.

I would use the Sea Foam first, then drain the oil, and refill.

This will help improve the clutch action
