I've a GL1200 Interstate imported into the UK in 1990. I know it was manufactured before then but the is no VIN plate (left-hand side) on the steering yoke.
There is however a stamped VIN number on the right side on the steering yoke. Is there a way to use this to find out the year?

10th digit in the vin is the year indicator: E=84, F=85, G=86 and H=87.
