Just did my front and rear bearings on the 86 Aspy. Used an 8" long 3/4 bolt for the rear and a 8" long 5/8 bolt for the front wheel.
Used a cutoff wheel on my angle grinder to cut down the center of the bolt at the threaded end about 2".
Insert the bolt into the wheel and place the end of the bolt just below the bearing, so that when you use the screwdriver to spread the threaded end on the bolt, it catches the edge of the bearing. Placement is critical, there is also a spacer in there that you can move slightly so that the bolt edge will catch the bearing, you will need to experiment to get perfect placement.
Hammer a large screwdriver down the slot to spread the bolt threads to catch the edge of the bearing and drive the bolt out along with the bearing. The bolts are now a part of my tool chest.
There is a thread on this site that has pics, I believe by Wing Admin but couldn't find it to provide you a link. Check out the how to articles.
Worked really well for me. 2 Bolts at TSC cost me 1.95 CDN each.
Or you can spend a lot more and get internal bearing pullers. Your choice.
