Short story: one evening, the bike started weakly but I drove it off anyway. Next time I tried to turn it on, it just clicked. Removed the starter and replaced it, but after all that work, I fed the old starter 12v from a battery jumper and it worked. Bike still just clicked even with a new starter, even though the new starter was getting 12v at the connector. Bought an aftermarket starter relay and replaced the old one. Finally it worked, but only for about 100 startups. Now I have the same symptoms. Is it possible that the relay failed again because it's aftermarket? The starter still gets 12volts at the connector. Thanks!

Re: Odd issue with GL1200 starter relay
12v at the starter doesnt tell the whole story. i have scrapped many batteries that charged up to 12+ volts. the fact that you could jump start with a known good battery is pointing to a bad battery.
