1985GL1200I Pulse Generator

Post by jimmyschow »

I am having a cylinder misfire issue with my GW. I have included pics of the plugs. It could be fuel related, but at this point i do not think so. Leaning towards electrical, but so far i have new OEM coils, new spark plug wires, checked resistors in plug caps, All good. Checked the pulse generator resistance and the book says 1200 ohms +- 100 ohms. Mine are at 340 and 342 see pics. I also included a pic of the manual. I saw in another topic here that the book might be stating ohm values for a 84 wing. I do know that based on the shop manual, there is 2 sets of pictures for these bikes. So i am looking for clarity. I would appreciate any concrete knowledge. Next order of business for this is to check the air gap on the PG's, which i was hoping to avoid.

I've run across this before. The '84 pulsers are 1200 ohms, the '85-'87 are 330. I've checked this on the engines I have here. No idea why. And the ignition modules are different for those years, probably because the pulsers are.
