Hello to all,
I have searched , but to no avail, i cannot find a pair of chrome engine covers for my 1986 GL1200
Can anybody help please,

Are you referring to valve covers? Try eBay motors. They usually have dozens in various stages of dirtiness. If something else, please be more specific.

Had a set from an '84 1200, the chrome on these older valve covers can start to flake off. Like the polished aluminum look myself, these were first done in 2018:

Timing covers that I polished, before/after look: I used Flitz Sealant to seal the parts in 2018: a ceramic coating, and there was no degradation in the look for over a year. Polished again in last year during my '85 Limited Edition engine rebuild and paint project, easier second time round: The only difference this time is with the protectant. I used the CERAKOTE MC-5100 clear coat product, specifically formulated for any aluminum finish including vapour blasting, one coat applied liberally. CERAKOTE products are well known in the gun lobby. I have had the bike on the road, and road dirt and crud wipes off with a damp cloth, very easy to keep clean.Good luck with your search.
