Proper RPM after warming up?

Post by WillyGoldWing »

My 1984 Aspencade doesn’t like to idle above 800 rpm after warming up with the choke on... even after 10 minutes of choke on, while the engines running she still seems like she will cut out at any second.
Any idea what might be causing this? I know I can adjust the throttle within the casing, would turning that a little bit help?

My book says that it should RPM around 959 to 1000 at idle for my Interstate.

I would sync the carbs for sure. But if you have synced them already, (great How To in the How To section), you can adjust the idle speed with the idle speed adjuster screw in the throttle cable body cluster.

Keep us posted.
