I recently bought an old goldwing aspencade 1200cc 1984. It runs fine for the first few weeks but died and dashboard lights won't even turn on without using jumper cables.
Here are additional info:
- Battery is new - few weeks old
- it starts when it is boosted, dies and unable to start again when ignition is turned off
- not sure if electrical problems, stator or alternator problems etc
Any help and suggestions is appreciated!

Sounds like you have no charging system. It was just running off the new battery.
See if the battery will charge up, then start the bike and measure the voltage with it running.
The first thing to check is the three yellow wires from the stator plug. They often overheat and melt the plug. The typical fix is to remove the plug and solder/heat shrink the wires together. You can search here for how to test the stator and the regulator/rectifier.
