Details about toolkit

Post by CrazyCatman »

I've got myself a nice original Aspencade tool kit, however it is not complete; for once all wrench sockets and the handle is missing - but all spanners are there.
I could go on a hunt for original parts - or just take it slowly one by one, but as I already have a bunch of sockets and rackets I think I will start by supplying from my surplus. The only issue will be to find the HEX-5 bit and the adaptor I think.

Now for the question: The spare part list does describe very well which objects I generally need, but the main question is simply, which size racket is used?
I believe it must be a ½", although it can't be a very long one, or it won't fit the bag (the 17mm spanner is already crossing the line although it is an original Honda.
Can anyone confirm the socket size? 1/2" (my guess), 3/8" or 1/4" (seems unlikely to me, also considering the hex adaptor).

Second question:
The adjustable spanner/wrench - it comes in many sizes and lengths. Does anyone have the gap which the spanner is operationable? Considering the sockets and (fixed) spanners it could be anywhere between 8 mm and 27 mm. The physical length will in my guess (based on the drawing, size of the tool bag and the 17 mm and 27 mm spanners) be maximum 8"/200mm.

I hope anyone have the answer to these two questions (and perhaps know where to get the adaptor the the hex bits as they seem to be needing a 1/2"(?) female to 1/4" female - and I have never seen such one before!

Lots of tool questions on the forum, but I couldn't find anything about the individual details ;)
I hope you guys can help.

Thank you

(my model is an 1984 A)

The tool kit came with a 3/8" ratchet and a 150 mm (or 6") adjustable wrench.

In the '86 toolkit.

Thank you; that was just what I needed :) Time to check my toolbox to see what I've got, and what I need to find.

The adaptor, is that a 3/8" female to 1/4" female? as I assume that the adaptor is for the hex-keys

I thought so. Finding a female-female with squares in both end might be a tricky job; might have to get a female-square to female-hex and use some hex 5, 6 and 8 mm long bits instead of the included ones (of which I only have 6 and 8 mm anyway).

Thank you; You've been very informative; now I know what to look for until I get my hands on the real deal :)
