Motorcycle dies during a ride
My 86 GL 1200 has been losing acceleration and stalls out after having been riding for 1 to 2 hrs. Both times the oil light has come on right before the problem arises. Hopefully this explanation makes sense.

This is VERY bad. The oil light indicates that your oil pressure is low. The fact that the engine is losing power and actually stalling, along with the oil warning light, says to me that your engine is being starved by oil. It's stalling out because the lubricating layer of oil in the engine that separates the crank from the bearings and allows the pistons to slide in the cylinders is gone. This means that there is direct metal on metal, with so much friction as a result that it heats up and stalls the engine.cutnsmoke77 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 6:15 pm My 86 GL 1200 has been losing acceleration and stalls out after having been riding for 1 to 2 hrs. If this is in fact the case, then there is likely already some serious damage done to your engine, unfortunately.
You need to find out what is happening to your oil flow. Something is stopping the oil from flowing - a clogged intake, filter, or perhaps something gone wrong with one of the two oil pumps in the engine. I would also drain the oil and examine it for metal shavings. You might want to send some of that drained oil into an oil analysis place to find out if (and how much) damage has been done to the engine internals.

Hi, turns out I was incorrect about what I thought was the problem. Believe it is an electrical problem. In my research I found the comments about changing the dog bone to a 30amp fuse which I did but know when I hit the ignition all I get is a click.WingAdmin wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 8:58 pmThis is VERY bad.
