Hello all. My 86 Aspencade 1200 is completely dead, no lights or indicators of any kind. It acts like it does not have a battery, completely dead. I installed a new battery, and no change.
Checked dog bone fuse and it's good.
Can anyone refer me to a YouTube video on this problem?

Re: YouTube Videos
Get a volt meter or test light and start tracing power and grounds.

Your response to Rambozo's post suggests you may not own a voltmeter, or may not know how to use one. Your symptoms are very basic (No power to anything). I doubt there is a YouTube that starts that basic. But if you have a voltmeter here's a starting point:
Find a good ground, like a bolt on the frame or engine.
Connect the black wire from the voltmeter there.
Take the red wire from the voltmeter and test the battery positive post.
No volts = bad negative (ground) wire from battery to frame.
Next take the red wire and test for volts anywhere in the fuse box.
No volts = bad wire from battery to fuse box.
Yes, volts some places in the fuse box, but not every fuse = bad ignition switch.
That's about as simple a starting point as I can give. Post back with findings.

Thanks for the reply. I understand how to use a multimeter.OldguyGlen wrote: ↑Tue May 03, 2022 2:38 pm Your response to Rambozo's post suggests you may not own a voltmeter, or may not know how to use one. Re: YouTube Videos
there is a youtube video by "ride more moto" showing how to remove the gl1100 fairing. i imagine the gl1200 is very similar. battery cover simply pulls off. the "false tank" is held on by 2 bolts under the front of the seat and one bolt on each side up towards the front, accessed through the fairing lowers (full disclosure : my experience is with 1000 and 1100; i'm sure a 1200 guy will correct me if i am wrong on the removal process).
to be clear, your bike will start run and ride with or without the fairing, so i doubt that poking around there will cure your problem of no power to anything.
