Installing new front. brake lines

Post by Wirelic »

How do you do this? It seems that the entire fairing has to come off. Any suggestions from someone who’s actually installed new brake lines on a GL1200?

I replaced the front and rear brake hoses along with the clutch hose on my 1984 GL1200A last year. It is definitely worth the time and effort to remove the fairing for the front brake / clutch hose swap. I wrote down the steps for fairing removal as I did the job to ensure everything I unplugged got reconnected but I didn't take too many pictures. Do you have a Honda service manual? It has helpful illustrations.

Thank you, Gentlemen. No I don’t have a Honda Service manual. I looked for one but couldn’t find an affordable one. I do have both a Haynes and a Chilton. I guess I’ll press on with removing the fairing. I cannot see an other way, and I want the project done right.
If any of you can recall any tips or suggestions, I’m sure open to all of them. Thanks again!
