So I opened the radiator cap and there's oil in there, just like you'd get if you had a blown head gasket on a car in the oil (like chocolate milkshake). Good news is that there's not coolant in the oil though. The water pump seems to be working, as the bike doesn't overheat. The temperature stays in the middle of the gage, needle pointing straight up. No real numbers on there. I've watched a couple videos of guys changing the water pump and it doesn't seem really really difficult. But, this really seems to be some seal that has failed, not the water pump itself. Anyone ever had this and changed some seal between the crankcase and the water pump?
I've even considered flushing the coolant system and just filling it up with oil and having an oil cooled engine. Seems to be doing fine with about a 50-50 mix of oil and water at the moment.

Re: Oil in the coolant
Have you done any work on the bike recently? when i pulled the heads on mine, oil would "pour" into the coolant areas. if not, then you are prob right in there being a seal somewhere.

Re: Oil in the coolant
You may be on to something there. The engine was completely seized and took me a month to unseize. I’ve had the heads on & off a dozen times and filled the crank case completely with oil, diesel, mmo, acetone, …. So I very likely got oil in the coolant passages. I guess I’ll try to flush it out some how and see what happens.
