I just looked on eBay and there were several used ones on there. I also saw rebuild kits for the shutoff.

I saw them...Honda sealed theirs shut with rivets so you'd have to drill holes etc in order to get it open to rebuild it and the 2 used ones I saw look 10X worse than mine not good odds of them working either and neither will guarantee they work...no...not goin that route
There has GOT to be someone on here that has one...I'll wait

i am retired. any mechanic , anywhere in the world can fix you right up! looked you up on a map, you have a lot of small towns around that will have machine shops. you can have the rivets drilled, and threads tapped for new screws, and i bet the machinist will install the new o rings for nothing. from that point forward, you will be able to refresh your petcock as needed!

Just a thought, if it was me, I'd buy one of those ebay ones and use it to practice with or get it rebuilt (rivets drilled, holes tapped, ...). That way I'd not lose the one on the bike till I had one that really worked.

Found a NEW one for $25!...It has reserve as well on it but same diameter as OEM one. It will actually fit gl1000 all the way to 86 GL1200s! (87 will NOT fit as it is different diameter) Reserve will simply act as another "off" position since we have no reserve on our petcocks. (Same one as Partzilla one on here for 49.98 but for half the money elsewhere)...NOW to get my 1200 running!

saber cycle is NOT the place to buy parts. and certainly not a place to buy parts that will set you on fire.

They've sold over 600 so far and no one has blown themselves up YET
so I take my chances. The only bad reviews were from owners of 1987 GL1200s
which she clearly states these will not fit. 86 on down WILL fit like OEM

Saber Cycle are a bunch of scamming cheats. Read some of the comments from many years of furious customers who have been screwed over by them: /Vendors/Saber-Cycle_880tbird71 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 06, 2022 11:51 am https://www.saber-cycle.com/Fuel-petcoc ... _1872.html

I've ordered three or 4 things from them thru the years never a problem. They've never phlocked me anyway. Be nice if you got that part in and sold it here, I'm sure there'd be a need. Petcocks grow old and brittle and need rebuilt/replaced all the time

Re: Need a "On Off" Fuel tank Petcock for 1984 GL1200 Please help!
Got petcock in TWO DAYS, she charged $4.14 shipping, it's made in India which beats China IMO
and will FIT. My guess is that Partzilla one for 49.95 is the exact same one bought from sabre and marked up 100%. Loyalty is one thing, saving over 100% on a part is ANOTHER. The rebuild kit would have cost $25 or so, add another $25 or more to have it rebuilt with shipping gas time involved to do that I'd have $70 or more in it easily. Her husband has passed, it's just her there she answers the phone takes the order and ships out the same day. I'll let you know if it starts leaking gas but I seriously doubt it WILL
If someone can sell me a better NEW petcock I'd like to see it but why screw with the rebuild if you don't have to. No, I'll probably order more from her unless I see the same part cheaper elsewhere

wingadmin; joecoolsuncle....OK, I have read the reviews for Sabre, and must admit they dont look good.
All seemed to involve the Barracuda parts made in China
My petcock was made in India, dont know if that means anything but better THERE
than cheena. Diane has always been friendly to me never a problem but I ordered simple parts and never a return.
NOW that being said yes I'm a titewad, but my 1984 GL1200 STD is a quality machine built from mostly Japanese parts in Marysville, OH. Only 2000 were made before Honda pulled the plug on the '84 strippers for good as they weren't selling. I believe there are SOME cheap parts you can get by with but NOTHING these guys have ordered (wheel bearings cables carb parts etc) should EVER be bought made with cheap parts.
My mechanic first told me when I asked about bringing in a part in and letting him install it that he would NOT warrantee any part he did not order or have in stock to work past his property line. He wont stand behind that and I cant blame him!
SO...any work needed on my bikes I let HIM get the part and he DOES stand behind it 100%.
On this petcock this is something I can install myself so thought I'd give this a try.
If this barracuda petcock leaks or does not function properly I WILL let you know and give appropriate feedback. If this one fails out of the gate I do not want another. I will keep my old petcock and let the mechanic rebuild it should he need to. The parts I ordered in the past were simple ones like maybe mirrors etc not anything like these guys ordered maybe that is why I got by so far.
Son in Law coming over this weekend (hopefully) and bringing a siphon pump so we'll drain the tank as completely as possible to get all the old gas out then install the new petcock and fill tank level to just past it.
If petcock is junk I WILL let everyone here know and admit I was wrong, we'll see
