Two itsy bitsy switches by clutch handle

Post by made2care »

1987 Aspencade. I’m replacing the clutch master cylinder with an aftermarket. The stock has two switches and aftermarket only had one. One the stock switch is activated when lever is pulled in( same on aftermarket). Other switch on stock is activated( depressed) when lever returns (let out). No such switch on aftermarket. What do these switch do and what must be done with extra switch as the design of the aftermarket cannot activate the second stock switch.
Thanks for your help

Switch activated when you pull clutch all the way in allows to start the engine when in gear.

On a 1500 that extra switch would cancel the cruise control if you pull on the clutch a little.

Does your 1200 Aspy have cruise?

Thank you for the quick response. Yes, it has cruise but I decided to just keep the stock and rebuild. It’s working nicely now .
