Hey guys, on vacation and my bike as given out on me in Wyoming. About 1200 miles from home. She’s a 1986 1200 carbureted. The bike will rev up in neutral and seems to run fine but with any load on it, it acts like it’s starving for fuel. The bike bogs down hard going up hills or trying to get over 60mph on level ground.
The petcock wasn’t allowing fuel flow even with a full tank, so I rigged up a bump tank. That seemed to help a little. Fuel pump wasn’t pushing fuel with the outlet side unhooked while the bike was running, so I rigged up an in-line 3psi fuel pump. The pump is working, but I’m still having the same problem. I’ve tried running it with a new filter and without a filter but no change.
I rebuilt and synced the carbs before I left. I’m about to take the carbs off and see if there’s a clog or something. Any advice would be appreciated. Bike has made it this far, I hope it can make it back.

Re: Gl1200 86 won’t rev up
Update: took apart one carb to find it gummed up pretty good with some rtv gasket maker. I had used a dab on each corner to hold the gasket in place when I first rebuilt the carbs. I had gotten too careless with it suppose! I’m trying to get her cleaned up as good as a guy can in a tent.
