Excessive oil blowing out of tube

Post by 86seibill »

Hello all I have a 1986 Gl1200A and the last few times I rode it there was a lot of oil blown on my right hand exhaust. It seemed to start all at once. I’m wondering if the breather or something is clogged but I don’t know where it is. I’m sure I’m just overlooking it but just can’t find it. Any help will be appreciated.

firsrt thing. drain a qt of oil. then drain the plastic container by your left heel. im betting you are overfilled with oil. or maybe too high a viscosity.

Yeah, does your oil smell like gasoline?

I’m not overfilled on oil, I’m a stickler on that. I’m thinking it is 10w30 gtx. But I’m thinking about changing it to rotella. I had oil to foam up one time in a 750 custom that I had so I keep an eye on oil closely. What is best on these? I’m in Bama. I’ll drain the lower tank tomorrow. Thanks

I finally got out to my bike and checked the oil in the plastic tank by the foot peg and it is full. So I will drain it and change the oil and see if that stops it from filling up and blowing out. Thanks I didn’t think of that one. Also where is the pcv located at?
