Fuel pump question
My 84 interstate has an aftermarket fuel pump. I'm restoring the bike and wanting to go back to original style pump. My question is are the $79 pumps any good? I can only find one Honda pump and it's $249 so I'm looking for a more affordable option. Also if I do keep using the aftermarket pump which is low pressure will it hurt the carbs? Thanks in advance

Re: Fuel pump question
Maybe a compromise...
And low pressure won't hurt the carbs, but it's always best to go OEM.

You say you want to go back to original, then you say you don't want a Honda pump. Make up your mind, which is it?

Re: Fuel pump question
if you plaster junk parts on it, you cannot call it a restoration. the real deal is out there and wont turn you into another billy lane fireball.

Re: Fuel pump question
It's tough to get aftermarket fuel pumps that work perfectly. They have to put out the correct pressure and correct flow rate, at all engine speeds.
Too little pressure, you will starve the engine at higher load (i.e. highway use). Same goes for too little flow rate. Too much pressure, you'll overwhelm the carb needle valves and flood the engine or run it very rich.
