Timing Belt

I'm new here but I has 1984 GL1200A and previous owner says he change timing belt, and bike stop starting, I never work with that engine before , I just wondering if he wrong installed timing, what happen does piston bendet valve or not, if someone has similar situation let me know, I looking for new heads but maybe it possible to fix without

Yes, that is an interference engine, so depending on how the cams were aligned, the valves can hit the pistons and bend. You can check this before removing the heads.
