oil leak

Post by bigguy »

My 1984 1200 g0ldwing just started leaking from the rear differential. Is this usually a seal and is there an additive that can slow this down?

Where is it leaking from? Which side?
Sometimes a shock leak can seem like a drive leak.

No, I can actually see it leaking from the side the differential is on. I am thinking a gasket?

No gaskets in that. A few seals and some O-rings.

I checked rear differential oil and it was full as an egg. The oil was also a different color and thicker. I'm thinking now shock oil

Leaking shocks are fairly common. If you find a company that will replace the seals for you, let me know. I have a leaker, too.
