no power to key
I was having trouble with the fuel pump on my 84 aspencade. I thought I found the problem but when I went to try it, I had no power to the key. I checked the main fuse by the battery and also the fuses in the false tank and all is good. Are there any other fuses I can check?

Re: no power to key
Are you getting power to anything? Are the lights working?
If you are getting lights it may be just a dirty starter button.
If you aren't getting any pow, you may have a dirty, or burnt plug in the ignition circuit.
Another possibility is a melted plug in the starter relay.

I have nothing, no lights horn, nothing. Someone on here said there is also a fuse located behind the battery . Not the 30 amp dog bone fuse. Any truth to this ?

Not on the '84. That extra fuse was on the LTD & SEi.
Your symptoms can be caused by dirty or melting connections at the starter relay, or possibly bad connections where the ignition switch plugs into the wire harness at the fairing.

Do you have a volt meter and the wiring diagram?

You may be onto something about the ignition. I was tempted to try to take out the plug from the ignition and I have an ignition from an 82. I don't know if they will match up.

As stated this is more likely the issue with these old bikes and/or someone before you trying to "fix" something!Bike...and Dennis wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 2:31 pm Are you getting power to anything? Are the lights working?
