GL1200 switch location
Can anyone tell me the location of the switch for the turning lights on a 1986 GL1200. Thanks in advance.

US models the lights are on any time the key is on. Some UK Hondas have an off position on the hi lo control on the left handlebar switch pod.

Re: GL1200 switch location
Hi Rambozo. Thanks for your post. My 1986 GL1200i was imported from the U.S. and frame number shows it was built in CA. I am located in Scotland. I found that the left light stays on but, the right light was only on when turning. From what you say, I reckon I have a bad ground somewhere. The wiring has been effed about with by the previous owner so I don't know what to expect really. The right hand wiring is relatively easy to get to but the left hand light is very difficult. These lights and wiring don't exist in my Haynes manual wiring diagrams. I will persist in my investigation. Many thanks for your input.
Roy.

A much better resource is the shop manual. Look at the top left side on this site, and you'll see 'MANUALS'. Go there and you'll probably find the information you need.

Re: GL1200 switch location
Okay Minimac. I had a look for the manual and goldwingdocs doesn't have them. The shop manual has to be bought and it's pretty expensive plus postage and export duty to Scotland. Worse though is the time it would take. I will just shortcut the wiring to a new switch and operate both fairing lights with that. I would have liked to keep it original but hey ho, on we go.

The electrical diagram is there. It's says 1984 but it didn't change.

Re: GL1200 switch location
I just cut the wires. Routed them to a 4 pole switch on the right fairing panel and all good. Thanks for all the help.
