Hi everyone,
I’m slowly rebuilding a 84 Aspencade and am running into a problem. I received a lot of parts in boxes when I purchased the bike including the rear brake calipers. I have 2 rear calipers to choose from, both have the 32mm pistons, however the actual caliper body sizes are different. They look identical in terms of construction but the one with the larger body has longer brake pad holder pins.
Before I rebuild the wrong one with the kit I bought I just wanted to see what your thoughts were.
Thanks!!

Sorry you're not getting any help with this. I don't have an extra caliper laying around to measure. Can you insert a pic with the area you want measured indicated? Maybe I can get up under the bag with a ruler.

Is 84 the year that had the unique one year only brakes?

Re: Rear brake caliper size
I'm thinking he has a front and rear caliper. The Aspys had thicker rotors (vented) on the front therefore would require some wider space and therefore longer pins. Does that make sense?

Attached are pictures of the 2 presumed rear calipers I have. Both are 32mm pistons, the caliper on the left is the same size as the 2 front calipers. The caliper on the right is slightly larger with longer pins.

Re: Rear brake caliper size
It's got to be the smaller one.
The other looks like it would rub on the tire.
And for the thickness of the rotor there's just no need for that much gap.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking too. Not sure how PO acquired this caliper but I’ll rebuild the smaller one and test fit when I get to that point. Thanks guys!!
