Clutch basket

Post by Ladha1990 »

Good evening,

I have an 86 gl1200A. I just reinstalled my clutch with new plates, however am not 100% sure I seated the clutch pack into the basket all the way. The pictures I’ve attached show how much of the clutch protrudes. Should that be flush with the basket? It took a few smacks with rubber mallet to seat it but am not sure if I’m binding on something. I test fit the rear case and turned the alternator shaft to see if anything was interfering but I didn’t hear anything. Thoughts on this, wish I took a picture prior to disassembly.

Thanks!

I think it's supposed to be a little proud.

I copied a post from a member that did the same job. Hope this helps, there are some pictures of the assembly.
