Re: replacing my horn
All you're doing is triggering the relay. (+) from either stock horn will accomplish that. The relay only uses a very small amount of current.

Re: replacing my horn
Correct. You can use one of the horns (I used the closest one) to supply the power for the relay coil.Bluewaterhooker0 wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 10:35 am All you're doing is triggering the relay. (+) from either stock horn will accomplish that. The relay only uses a very small amount of current.

Re: replacing my horn
I have horns just like those on my 95 trike, 1500. i would like to get the same ones on my 89 CSC trike but i cant find the bracket that goes that goes with the horns. my question is: where did you get the bracket? did it come with the horn? all the Rivco Dual Air Horns i have seen dont show brackets that come with it

Most folks go with some sort of air horn. There were a couple on my bike when I bought it that I removed. Didn't like the look. I would prefer something that fits in the OEM location or that is not visable.
Had two sets on trike when we bought it, so loud it would spook riders behind me I'm told, definitely LOUD on us. Took left side ones & compressor off, left right side on. OEM horns just unhooked. Compressor strapped to frame down tube. Rivco. Thinking I might mount the extra set under rear pointed back towards followers on a separate button.

Re: replacing my horn
I have revco horns on my 95 on the right side an wanted to put some on my 89, I had to take my 95 apart to see where the compressor was, problem is I already have something there in the same place. Looks like a vacuum of some sort. Can some body tell me what it is before I take it off.
First 2 is on the 89, 3 &4 are from my 95

Ok. Thks.
It wasn't on my 95, but looks like something was there before. Now I don't know where I can mount the compressor. There is no room anywhere I can see.

Holy resurrected zombie post, Batman!
I mounted a 100 watt speaker off of a copcycle, hooked to a Unitrol 80K amplifier. This gives me PA, radio over the speaker, and a really, really, REALLY attention-getting electronic air horn.

Re: replacing my horn
I read that it should be somewhere close to the horns, I don't know how much loss of loudness I would lose if it put it in the back, I'm talking at least 4-5 foot of hose

Re: replacing my horn
If nothing leaks, you should not have any loss in loudness. It will just take a fraction of a second longer for the horns to sound when you hit the button, as the air will have to fill the tubing. Also, the horns may not start and stop as crisply, but I doubt you will hear the difference as many cars with air horns have the compressor mounted in the trunk.

Re: replacing my horn
Living in a first circle suburb of Philadelphia, traffic density SUCKS. It take a while to get to any good riding and as such, I have to “communicate” my GoldWings presence to others. Mrs. Grapevine didn’t like the sound of the OEM horns and purchased the Motohorn Dual Track horns. https://motohorn.com/dual/
Installation was easier than I thought about, one I looked at the WHOLE front end, not just the OEM mount and other inaccessible areas. The P/O had a pair of chrome bullet light installed on the fairing under bracket.
Since I had previously installed the running lights down low, AND the bullet lights didn’t work, I looked to see if that would work as a mounting position. I didn’t need any new holes, and I used a length of scrap wire to determine if the OEM wire pair could reach, and all I had to do was cut the electrical tape and reroute horn wires over the top of the fairing plastic above the radiator and plug in.
Lucky for both of us, she’s much happier with GrapeVines tone when “talking” to other traffic
