I had a Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Nomad, and when the tank got low on fuel it did the same thing. Once you opened the cap to refill it it went away.

It has to do with the temperature of the gas. Depending on the temperature of the gas, it will vaporize and pressurize whatever container it is contained within. The gas cap vent is designed to prevent the tank from developing too much pressure, as well as allowing air into the tank to replace fuel that is being consumed.

I 'retired' it in Sept 2017 with 340,410 showing when I bought my Victory Cross Country Tour.
Going to put it up for sale this spring for someone else to enjoy

Hey Dusty! It's good to see your post. Maybe I missed them, but I haven't seen any posts from you in a while. I always enjoy seeing what you have to say about things.

I did the SEAFOAM SOAK Clean up like brand new. Blew it out with my compressor. Have not had a VAPOR LOCK since. Fixed my idle issue. Has not heated up and lost power since. Thanks for all your advice....Ben
