Hi:
I am looking for a little guidance on the process of removing an alternator from my 1990.
Thanks

Re: Removing Alternator from 1990 GL1500
Start by unhooking your negative battery cable. Unplug the connector on the alternator. Remove the three bolts that attach the alternator to the engine. Gently pry the alternator away from the engine and slide it out. Make sure the rubber dampeners are in place when reinstalling.
The whole process, including reassembly, should take under an hour.

Thanks Ernie;
It was easier then I thought, I cleaned up the dust created by the brushes, the dust had gotten into and around the brushes and they were sticking. I reinstalled the atlernator and the bike is now charging.
Cheers,
Jerry

Same thing happened to my 91 Wing. Dust blowing lasted a couple K miles.
Get ready to change brushes AND rear bearing soon.
