just bought a 88 gl1500

i have records of org owner and water pump has been replaced before
2nd issue
also dont know if this is related bike runs smooth but i do hear a sound like a spinning crunchy sound very slightly sounds like a washing machine thats off balance timing belt has been replaced less than 50,000 miles ago
I am new to goldwings and have no knowledge at all about wing stuff any help would be appreciated

My 88 also kicks in the fans then cycles back off in slow traffic.Do check the coolant level in the radiator at least if you don't plan on replacing the antifreeze.
The noise...Mine is quiet.A bit of rattle that goes away if I pull in the clutch lever.
If yours doesn't...better pop the front covers off and look at those timing belts and idlers.Timing belts are cheap to replace too.Just get the tention correct.
Another problem area is the rubber bushings between the alternator and engine.
Use a stethoscope to closer isolate the noise.
