Hondaline Passenger Armrests

Post by gwjturner » Mon Feb 05, 2018 8:01 pm

I've been looking at the different brands of passenger armrests and was wondering if anyone has some experience with the OEM Hondaline units. I've read that some armrests need to be swung out of the way when opening the trunk, and with others, they do not. Are the Hondaline armrest any better than the aftermarket ones?

Hi.
Every set of passenger armrests I've seen (including my own) swing out to the side. This is to allow the passenger easier access getting on or off the bike. Otherwise they would have to try to climb over the armrest. Once the passenger is seated the armrest is swung forward and locks in place.
All brands follow the same basic design and the cost differences comes from the quality of materials used (thick Crome, durable cloth material) and in some part, the brand name.
Find a shiny pair you can afford and go for it.

Thanks for the info! Is there a brand that will need to be swung out of the way when I open the trunk? If so, I think I'll stay away from that brand. Knowing me, I'll open the trunk and forget to swing them out of the way and end up breaking something.........................

If you are interested in a good set I just removed from mine, PM me and we can discuss it. You can open the trunk with them open or in riding position with no problem.

bellboy40 - Thanks! I'm just thinking about some armrests at this point and doing some "research". Maybe when tax season is over I can get a set.........................

No that I know of have to be swung out to open the trunk. I think that was on the 1200s that had to be done. . . . But then I have been wrong before, so yeah. LOL
