Blackwing fork brace - any hints on where to get??
After upgrading my 1200 to a 1500 late last season I am looking to get some upgrades done before the season begins. I like the look and performance of the Blackwing fork brace as described in viewtopic.php?t=28654. Thanks Admin for the review. the problem is I am having difficulty in trying to find one. It seems as if many of the links are old or are not getting responses. If anyone knows of a current source please let us know ( I am sure others would like to know as well).
Also, I am reading that the brace is shipping with different bolts as the 7x1 countersunks are no longer available. will the imperial screws work? and should the holes be retapped to accomidate them?
Thanks

Re: Blackwing fork brace - any hints on where to get??
I got one a couple months ago for my recently acquired 1500 and I got the genuine brace from him on eBay. Mine came with the correct screws.
Winging it every chance I get
19,119 miles when I got it from dad Oct 15, 2017 --- 28,659 miles and counting as of Sep 11, 2020!

Re: Blackwing fork brace - any hints on where to get??
EBay was the only place I could find it. Seems the dealers are only selling the other ones, which IMO aren't as good. I'm in UK and was shipped no problems.

Re: Blackwing fork brace - any hints on where to get??
There is legal history between Blackwing and Superbrace. Blackwing prevailed in the legal case, but Superbrace has since told its dealers that they will not supply their product to any dealer that also sells Blackwing braces, in an attempt to drive them out of business. This is why you can't find Blackwing braces anywhere but from the manufacturer.

Thanks for the info - it explains alot. I personally think it is sad that businesses manipulate like this. Why can't the consumer just make the choice and let the better product rise to the top. I am looking forward to the coming riding season and to compare performance of before and after. Thank you all for the information and help that you provide the Goldwing community.

Looks like a really nice mod for minimal cost. I'll be buying one soon too.

Re: Blackwing fork brace - any hints on where to get??
Agreed. Those kind of tactics would likely drive me to a company in Blackwings position even if I thought the company doing the bullying had a slightly better product because I find that kind of manipulating so distasteful.MNAspencade wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 10:17 pm Thanks for the info - it explains alot. I just finally ordered mine through EBAY https://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-Aspencad ... 1438.l2649 . It arrived quickly and I am looking forward to getting it installed as soon as we can get out of this freezing weather up north here - lol.

Re: Blackwing fork brace - any hints on where to get??
I ordered one of these braces on 17 February and received it 3 days later on 20 February. Not bad for a cross country shipment. I installed it the next morning and went for a 50 mile ride. I was very impressed with the increased stability at slow speeds and cornering. It really made the GL 1500 handle much better. The next day I took a 150 mile ride and again loved the stability the bike had now. The two up stability while at slow speeds is much better than without the brace. In my opinion this brace is worth every penny it cost.
Re: Blackwing fork brace - any hints on where to get??
I got one shipped to uk. Very nice to deal with. It seemed a better product than superbrace, and I felt I was also supporting the people who were being kicked in the balls by sbrace. I like a choice, that's where innovation comes from.

You'll feel the difference immediately. All Wing owners should install one, which is super easy. Watch the vid a couple of times before installation. Money well spent.
A big thanks to the designer and builder of this terrific product.

Re: Blackwing fork brace - any hints on where to get??
I just had a look at eBay, as there are a LOT of counterfeit items on eBay these days. The auction I found is here:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-GoldWing ... 3167927487
I know what the Blackwing Fork Brace looks like, as I have one on my bike. I looked carefully at this auction, and I can tell you that the brace shown in the pictures IS a genuine Blackwing Fork Brace. Also, the location of the seller is also where I happen to know the manufacturer lives. So I am going to say that this looks like the genuine article.
Interestingly, one of the pictures in his auction (the one with the hand putting the brace on the GL1500) is actually MY picture, taken from my review of the product. He didn't ask to use this, and normally I would go after people who blatantly use my pictures without permission, but I'll give them a pass, because I really like the product and want them to do well.

Re: Blackwing fork brace - any hints on where to get??
They apparently posted this three days ago:
I am happy to announce that the Black Wing Honda GL1500 (all models) Fork Brace is again available!
This brace is superior to the other braces in the following ways:
The brace is manufactured from Aircraft Quality Aluminum.
The Aircraft Quality Fasteners are countersunk to provide additional grip strength to hold the brace in place. This also allows the fork cover to fit properly. There will be NO twisting of this brace.
The bottom of the Brace is contoured to conform to the shape of the forks. This locks the brace to the Forks. There will be no twisting of the Forks.
In the side view, you can see the amount of material that contacts the Forks.
With these features, the FORKS ARE LOCKED TOGETHER to ensure precise handling.
This Brace will also help prevent the low-speed wobble that some have experienced.
The brace easy to install you only need to take off the fork cover. The Brace comes with the fasteners and instructions. Here is an installation video link:

The Brace is $65.00 each free shipping.
