USB thumb drive music

Post by Kgwing » Fri Feb 16, 2018 3:29 pm

I want to listen to music from my USB thumb drive, on my 1996 GW with stock stereo with cassete deck!
Anyone know of an addapter to do this? Or other ideas?
Thanx

That is also how I listen to my stuff in my car and I'd also like to be able to listen to my thumb drive on my Goldwing. I haven't seen anything that can adapt a USB drive to the Goldwing radio, I am planning on eventually just replacing the radio with something more modern.

Something like this marine radio would be sooo nice mounted right where the factory radio goes.

a lot of the 1500 radios have been modified to have an Auxiliary Audio input port.

Wayne up at Sierra Electronics does that mod all the time.

Or, the easiest way is to simply use an audio to FM radio transmitter adapter.
That is how I did it, from my GPS, to the FM transmitter, and the FM radio tuned to 88.7 or whatever channel you chose.

The FM transmitter ( modulator ) feeds a coupler that is inserted into the antenna lead to the radio.
All plug and play.

I have a devise that plugs into a cigarette lighter that sends a signal to the radio and has a USB port. Works great. Has a remote that changes volume, play nest, last etc. which you can attach to yoiu middle console or where ever you want..$45 and it's yours..If interested PM me..I can post pics or unit..if you want.

I got a bike with a CD charger in the truck so I don't need this anymore.

The FM Modulator I use on my 1100 has both aux input (This is what I use for my Sandisk MP3 player) and a USB input, the modulator will play MP3 files directly from the USB stick.
They say 98% of all Hardleys ever made are still on the road..... The other 2% made it home.
(I stole this from somebody on another GW site...)

When I had my Goldwing 1500 I had one of these wired up in the right side cubby hole. I never took it out just switched the SD cards now and then but it would also play a thumb drive or you can plug a phone or iPod into it. I never used the remote as it wouldn't transmit to the modulator when it was in the pocket. I picked the music so to me it wasn't necessary to skip anything. Worked great, had it for at least six years and left it in the bike when I sold it. Other people that were travelling with me were also able to pickup my music stream. Which reminds me I need to buy a replacement.

Sounds like there are a couple of ways to go with the USB thumb drive, I admit I hadn't looked very hard, I was too busy drooling over that new radio!
