kickstand Switch bypass

Post by kdubose0uh3iw »

I am stuck out of town on a sunday afternoon. I know that my kickstand is the problem. I need to bypass the switch so I can get the bike home and get it fixed Monday. It has three wires. I need to know witch ones to cross so It will run when I put it into gear. HELP!

Jumper the green/white to the green.

I tried that. I took a gamble and connected all three wires together. The bike started while in gear. The good news is, I got the bike home. I will more in likely have to replace the spring. I hope that will fix my problem. any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

If the problem is the kickstand falling down, and not the switch, this is a perfect example why I carry a bag full of nylon zip ties in my tool kit. I have done SO many on-the-road repairs with zip ties.

You guys have me confused now. I am going to by-pass my kickstand switch. Do I connect the green/white to the green or all three wires? Thanks for the info. This kickstand issue has been a very frustrating problem for me.

As was mentioned above, green to green/white is for the ignition interrupt. If you connect all three, it will run but the sidestand light will be on.
Be aware that it will also ignore the clutch switch, so if you do something stupid like start it on the sidestand, it will happily push itself off the stand and fall over.

Thanks for the update. I will try not to be stupid but this switch problem is stopping me from riding. However, I will see if I can order another one for a future replacement.
