GL1500 cooling fan always runs

Post by jandjgoldwing » Mon Mar 05, 2018 1:00 pm

Last week, I noticed that the cooling fan is running as soon as I start the bike. Can anyone suggest a cause?

Pull the front cover and disconnect the wire on the sensor that's on the bottom of the right radiator. If the fan quits, replace it.If your quick, you'll lose very little coolant.

As stated, it is most likely to be a failed sensor!! if disconnecting the wire from the sensor stops the fan turning, then the sensor is bad (have to change it) if disconnecting the wire from the sensor doesn't stop the fan then you either disconnected the wrong sensor :D or you have a wiring fault somewhere which is shorting out that wire and keeping the fan turned on. You will need to examine the wiring harness and try to find the fault, or run a new wire from the fan to the sensor.

Or maybe there is a switch somewhere someone has installed to turn the fan on.
