Fog light bulbs

Post by Pittsy » Sun Mar 11, 2018 7:08 pm

Just bought a 1997 GL1500se and can’t seem to find LED bulbs for the lower fogs other than the 10-104 Show Chrome bulbs that don’t have great reviews.
Anyone know of a better LED alternative?

maybe i'm confused but the 10-104 look like position bulbs which are beside the headlight, between T/S lens.
You're wanting the lower lights by engine guards commonly called Fog, Driving, Cornering?
pay attention to style bulb as there was a slight change that did not interchange.

browse these and see if there is anything to your liking...hth

I have the LED bulbs for both the position lights (on either side of headlight) and the lower running lights on my 2000 SE. Also have the SoCal Pathfinder LED headlights and they all look good together. The light output is very close to the same color which is a bright white light. I got all mine from Cyclemax.

I’ve ordered every other bulb in LED for the bike.
The bulbs through Cyclemax are a bit pricey once shipped to Canada, so now knowing what bulb it is I’ll be able to source it easier.
Thanks

 I'd need a lot more disposable income than I have to justify spending almost $100 on four light bulbs. Even if they did last as long as advertised.

It is hard to justify ANY expenditure on a motorcycle if we are going down that road. Even the motorcycle itself. They are all pretty much toys to most folks.

Cyclemax has the cornering bulbs you are looking for. I have a 98 gl1500se and have burned through a stock set every year it seems. I upgraded to the LED Replacement Driving Light SCML50WC The cost is $24. for each but they have lasted, and are WAY brighter than stock. Always replace in pairs. The difference is very noticeable. Regular bulbs will run you 8 to 16 bucks and lucky to last you 1 or 2 seasons for some reason, maybe it is vibration, I don't know. Money will be well spent from a company that provides great products. Cornering Lights and driving lights are the same animal, just called by different names on different years I believe. Trust me on this you will like the night ride.

Thanks all. I just ordered the LED cornering bulbs from Cyclemax. The grand total with exchange and shipping to Canada is $92.00! Plus, because it's F'ing Fedex, I will probably be dinged again by Customs. Oh well, I just love those built-in curb lights . . . .

Yeah - it IS painful getting dinged for all those extras in Canada, isn't it?? Whenever I can, I ask for US sellers to send via USPS, as it's generally cheaper & doesn't usually involve duty.

Many US sellers are aware of our plight with courier deliveries in Canada & the outrageous, exorbitant, and unconscionable "brokerage" fees that couriers charge us...often several times the cost of the item itself...and most are willing to vary their shipping methods on our behalf.

While UPS is the worst offender, the rest of the gang are always happy to join in too.

It looks like a standard projector-type lensed light that has been mounted into the original lens which has been spray painted black. There are many such lights available.

Or, you can go to a local auto store and get a pair of 3157 LED bulbs, rip the guts out of your stock blown incandescents and solder in the LED heads. Cost me $20

I like the LED head lights a lot. I can see much better at night than with the stock H4 bulbs. I don't know how they compare to the HID bulbs because I have never had them on a motorcycle. I can tell you that even in the daytime if you put the lights on bright when near a road sign it will light it up brightly. Also I like the white light output from those bulbs. It is almost pure white... not a bluish color.
WingAdmin has a good review of them on this site if you are interested.
