Rain

Post by Benderbus »

Every time I get caught in the rain, no matter how light, my 1500 drops a cylinder or 2. Thought it was one, but both mufflers have the same miss. And I smell raw fuel. If I'm on a trip, it will start hittin as a ride, I can feel it coming on once rain stops. If I'm home, I throw a fan on it, and the next morning, I have all 6. Anything you guys have would help. Thanks, Brian

I would point out one of your 3 ignition coils as a suspect, proably the front one as it is the first one to get wet ;)
But only testing will let you know ............
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle

+1 on what GlimWas said. If not the coils then plug wires.

get out the garden hose and give it a well-directed shower. I bet you'll find the cause of the miss

both mufflers have the same miss.
Because both 3 into 1 headers dump into a single middle chamber where exhaust is mixed and sent out through both mufflers.

Had that problem on my 83 GL1100. Water was collecting under the spark plug boot. Don't know if this is your problem.
