No cruise control narrowed down help please!

Post by Rugrat5288 » Mon Jul 30, 2018 10:45 am

Cruise control not functioning due to the clutch handle not returning far enough to activate the switch when released. What have you all done to fix this? I’m thinking either a zip tie around the prong that hits the switch or glue something on the prong. I don’t think there is an adjustment to pull the lever back out farther when released is there? Thanks!

Sounds like you need to replace your clutch lever bushing. There is a "how to" post here:

You can order the part for $8.50. I had the same issue and replaced mine to fix it. Over time, the brass bushing wears out where the clutch pin rests on it and you get some free play when the clutch lever is released. This should fix you up.

The "how-to" states that they can be found at Cyclemax. That's where I got mine ($8.50 in the Gl1500 Maintenance section). I'm sure there are other places they could be found.

Yup, Cyclemax keeps them in stock, rather than ordering them piecemeal from Honda and having to wait a week (or more).
