Headlight Adjuster, anyone ever use it, and why

Post by curtm » Mon Jul 30, 2018 7:05 pm

Was cleaning the bike and noticed the headlight adjuster, Does anyone ever use it, and why, i dont normally ever need to adjust the headlight, seems like kinda of a waste of real estate , i have never adjusted it since i bought the bike, i find the headlights on these bike excellent, compared to a lot of bikes.
any thoughts

The adjuster just adjusts the headlight beam up or down. And why you would want it? Because when you have someone on the back seat (or a lot of heavy stuff in the bags, or both) the rear suspension compresses more, and the headlight points upward, blinding oncoming drivers. Using the adjuster, you can point it back downward.

Also when on long stretches of unlit motorways with this kind of barrier, low beam can be raised without blinding traffic on the opposite side of the motorway

If at first you don't succeed, hide the evidence.

my Low Beams are controlled by the oil pressure switch.
if the engine is running, the low beams are on.

I set the low beams to just barely touch the bottom edge of a sedan's rear window glass.
never have anyone flash lights at me. they are HID.

I leave the High beams on all day, flip them off at night IF the traffic flashes, I have them set to just light up the highway signs.

I use it to adjust headlight to load / road / traffic / etc. My Triumph and Norton, you either grabbed the headlight top rim and pulled back or bumped to adjust while motivating at night.... as needed.

I use mine all the time. When riding two up I have to adjust up a little and when riding single I have to adjust back down or else high beams glare on road signs too much.
