chasing short in turn signals

Post by curb jumper »

1990 GL1500 trike, all lights work great until it is put into gear, then turn signals blink rapidly and flasher will not work. Some of the tail lights will not work but all works fine with in neutral. I need some assistance.

Sounds like possibly a bad ground in the connector under the seat. This would cause the system to seek a ground, possibly through the gear indicator system. Check all the rear light wiring under the seat to the rear.

It's not a short, it is a bad connection. On the main harness on the left side near the front of the gas tank is a orange connector taped in the harness, it may have some burned connections. You can't see it but it is an obvious block under the tape.
