Rear shocks, interchange

Post by MarkZ28 »

My 88 rear air shock is not working due to no air pump. I asked about other shocks that could replace the rear shocks that were conventional, non air ride. Using Valkries rear shocks was an option. I found some nice shape used Progressive shocks from a 99 Valkrie on ebay for a good price shipped. I bought them and hope that what they said is true. Should be but hope to find out for sure. My fiance rode with me today on my 88, it bottomed put a couple times. Hoping these stiffen it up a lot.

A Valkrie is about 50kg lighter than a Gl1500. you would have been better off getting a standard gl1500 coil shock and fitting that

If they dont work Ill sell them and find an aftermarket shock for the GW. It has to be better than one functioning shock though. This is only temporary. Going to be tearing the bike apart this winter to try and fix everything that needs fixing. If these shocks arent the best, Ill take care of it then.

The Interstate models have no air compressor and use an air hose in the saddlebag that takes an air chuck fitting to pump the air shock up which is all you need.
