Radio gone, now I have a storage box.

Post by oldmopars »

So, my 96 SE of course came with the normal stock radio. I decided I don't like to listen to the radio, I prefer to listen to music on my phone over the SMH10. I never need the CB, and will use the SMH10 for comms.
As I was riding I kept looking at the radio and kept thinking that it would make a great storage box for storing my phone, etc.
I pulled the radio out and fabricated a box to fit the hole. Its about 3in deep, and 7.5 x 7.5. I bent some stiff wire to make the hinge. The lid is just the factory radio cover.

Nice work! Considering to do something similar
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle

Awesome,
and I would have done the same if only I had thought of it when I owned a 1500.
