Rear Speakers

Post by RockportDave »

Just replaced my rear speakers with these Walmart Scosche 4”. They were in stock at the local store. Perfect fit and sound is much better. My old ones had crackling going on.
Can hear the radio better at all speeds and can’t beat the price.

Are they marine grade, as in water resistant?

They are not advertised as water resistant/proof, but they have polypropylene cones with rubber surround. They look to be more water resistant than the OEM speakers I took out.
For $20 and 10 minutes per speaker to install, I figured I would try them out. Pleased so far with sound.

I'm virtually certain I put those very same speakers in my rear, from Walmart, 4 years ago. They are not sold as waterproof, but use water proof materials, as stated. Mine still work great after repeated rain events and washings. The sound is as good as you'll get from a 4" mini enclosure like that. They fit, barely, without any modification to the plastics, and the price is right.
I put the Polk DB501's up front and love them. But, they have stopped making those.
