New to me GL 1500 SEY 2000

Post by Wisemonkey » Mon Oct 01, 2018 11:21 am

Hi all, I am based in the UK, near Derby England. On Wed this week I fly up to Inverness Scotland via Belfast and collect the above bike. It is in top condition and has done 24000 miles only.

This is my first Wing. I do have other bikes, Honda ST 1300, Kawasaki Versys 1000, Yamaha XT 660 Tenere, Suzuki DRZ 400 S

I am trying to purchase a Fork Brace for same, preferably a Blackwing variant, made in the "Sunshine State" I believe. Can anyone help please ?

With help from others as above made different attempts to get hold of Blackwing, latest being what appears to be a fairly recent e-mail address. If I fail to connect with this Fork Brace provider other than Superbrace anyone know of a current provider of same please ?

Thank you,

WM

The info I posted is recent.

I just dealt with the guy earlier this summer.

Perfectly smooth transaction.

Blackwing or nothing imho.

No other brace is as good. They are subpar design compared to his.

Not worth $50 for a half-ass fix from another "brace" that doesn't really brace anything.

Call him, Skype is cheap we use it for international calls at my work.

He emailed me from the address I gave also.

Don't give up to fast.

Good Luck

Well after spending a good amout of time e-mailing, telephoning, leaving messages, speaking to Blackwings Lady agent I am now P...ed Off with messing about further. Ok we can all hit hard, sad times and that is understandable. But when you are in the game of selling stuff the least you can do is reply surely ? If you are tied up with more pressing stuff cover those bases either by fine tuning auto e-mail or answer phone responses, either by yourself or helpful other. My money is going the Superbrace way if the Irish compnay I have e-mailed and telephoned bother to reply https: :D

Just spoke with the gal that apparently distributes the brace on ebay..............currently the CNC machine that is used to manufacture the brace is still down and has been down for a month or so.............she said that she will post on ebay when the braces are available..........no indication as to when the machine will be fixed, only that it is supposedly in the process of being repaired............based on all the feedback, it looks like this is the brace to get.............

Okie2ee, Thanks for that. I will in light of that helpful update stick with the Blackwing Brace, it does look like it is the best. I am about to take my bikes off the road in the next few weeks but really need to get this brace in place for spring next year.

Thank you kindly,

WM

I replaced my Superbrace with a Blackwing brace, and the difference was amazing. I'd never go back.

Anybody States side fancy trying to give Blackwing a friendly nudge please ? ( He is on FB apparently) I have even managed to talk to him a couple of weeks back on the phone and agreed I would text him later that week to enquire if the CNC machine is back up and running.I sent 2x texts, no reply todate. I am aware there at least 2 or 3 folks on here after a GL 1500 Fork Brace so would be worth his while,

Cheers
