Cut down a windshield

To recap, I got my bike a few weeks ago, and it had a massive windshield on it. I picked up another one on fleabay for a steal, with the intention of cutting it down to stock size...did that tonight, and here is the before, in-between, and after. Need to do road test to check it out, and then do the final finish work and polish the edges.

Before:




Prep work--Made a cardboard template of the curve...I had a plastic bag of blankets to support and conform to the curve of the windshield.




Mark the cut line.




First fitment on the bike...

I think it looks good. Good it isn't to hard to cut the windshield, and in my view you have to look over it, not trough..
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle

Yeah, the edge is a couple inches below my sight line. Need to get some time behind it, and evaluate it for both buffeting and if that edge bothers me. The top edge of the windshield on my HD is about chest high. I'm really not used to having anything in my field of view.

I got a Bosch jigsaw blade for plastic, kept the speed slow, let the blade do the work, and it cut flawlessly.
