GL Project
Hi everyone
I'm new here but going to stay for "while" due to my new Baby. What you can see on the pics I just bought......I could kill someone who harm that bike that way. Now starting to strip down all fairinggs and unwonted parts and create nacked bike, no rat no cafe racer just naked fully functionable bike. Have no overall idea how exactly it should be done but looking for your suggestions and help. Engine must be exposed because that is the best part. I do not know if I should move fuel tank on the top or use fake tank cover? Anything will be helpfull for me. I have few bikes on my garage and have done few nice projects.

That's what the factory did with the Valkyrie.

Re: GL Project
Almost, but there are other changes to the Valk as well. Six carbs instead of just two (one per cylinder) gives it more torque (and a lot more maintenance). A beefed up transmission and driveline to handle the torque (which made their way into the late model GL1500's as well).

Re: GL Project
I'm goint further with my mods, and all works as I wanted. Now "open up" a rear end wire loom mess and stuck a bit with some devices. So someone can name the electric gizmos on the pictures? Each pic shows another thing. I have no compressor for rear suspension and no cruise control, that was the plan.
I realy wish to get rid of showing devices but do not know what are they for.
Please help!!!!

Re: GL Project
The others are diodes - again, I haven't got my book in front of me. It would help if you could identify the wire colors leading to each component.

Re: GL Project
Thanks a lot. I will keep reverse functionality, just for fun because bike is like 100 kg lighter
Decided to keep all those gizmos (have place anyway) because I think I need all of them unfortunately.

Here are some examples that were posted by others in the past.
The first has a GL1100 or GL1200 standard false tank and side covers on it.
