Dash lights stay on when key in "lock" position

Post by canoodle »

Hi all

Something weird just started today-when I turn the key all the way to the left, in order to lock the bars-the dash lights are staying illuminated.
Why is this happening? pretty weird.

So, if you turn the key only two clicks to the left,(off but not locked) do the lights still stay on? If they do I would think you have a sticking relay. If they go off at that point, I would think that maybe you have defective ignition switch. One more click to the left and the lights should be on again. You might check the ground connections as well.

I knew they had a lock position, just never used it.

Bike or battery?

Is there a "park" position that lights a few lights when parked? I ask as I only use off myself and two flights of stairs to trike or bike.

I don't use the park position of the switch either, but I believe that only the tail light is supposed to be left on when in that position.

Looking at the schematic, nothing should have power in “LOCK and OFF” positions.
