Oil Pressure Gauge

Post by BigDanT » Wed Mar 13, 2019 8:59 pm

I just purchased the Unobtainium 2.0 panel for my 1999 GL1500SE and would like to have a Voltage gauge and an Oil pressure gauge.

For the Oil pressure gauge, I will need to add a street T-fitting between the factory Oil pressure sensor and the engine. Can anyone tell me what thread is on the Oil pressure sensor? Is it a NPT, BSPT, or something else? What size?

These are the gauges that I'm considering. They are not an exact match to the factory speedometer and tachometer gauges, but they are similar. I really like the combination of digital and analog in one gauge.

Those gauges look awesome, and the additional "features" they have are worth every cent. IMHO

I would bet those threads are METRIC, and as Dave says, , , probably 10mm Metric Pipe Thread. It might have a "tapered" thread into the block, and taping the connector is probably a good idea.

Might unscrew the existing oil sender and take it with you to the local hardware to see what threads it "fits".....

Then post back, that way we'd all Know, instead of guessing...

It'll be interesting on how to get things to "mate" up.

It looks like the Max Tow sensor has a 1/8-27 NPT thread and there is an adapter that will mate with a 10mm MPT, or even 12mm MPT. Finding the right Tee could be "tricky", but definitely a decent work-around. I like it.

Let us know how it goes Dan.
