My buddy has a 94 goldwing with a rebuilt alternator and new battery but its not charging, are there any relays that could have gone bad or blown out when his alternator went ? we are going alittle bit crazy trying to figure out what the problem is. any thoughts or ideas ?
Thanks.

Re: Charging system
How have you tested the voltage readings and what are your resulting volt readings?
You say it has a rebuilt alternator, who rebuilt it?
What battery is in the bike?(people put all kinds of batteries in these wings, some good, some cheap not good)
Brand?
AGM or a wet cell?
Date it was new?

Re: Charging system
He was told the alt is good and the battery is brand new with 13 volts he starts the bike and runs and he checked the battery and it has no different reading on the meter just the battery power of 13 and it drops very slowly cause its running off the battery, stumped right now got any ideas?

Re: Charging system
It sounds like the alternator has a short, the alternators after 1996 were from China and had a bad solder joint on the armature that once heated would loose connectivity and be not charging.krazyman63 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2019 5:55 pmHe was told the alt is good and the battery is brand new with 13 volts he starts the bike and runs and he checked the battery and it has no different reading on the meter just the battery power of 13 and it drops very slowly cause its running off the battery, stumped right now got any ideas?
His being a 1994 may just be dirty inside and sticking brushes. Not knowing who did the rebuild and actual test findings, You need to do voltage tests with a fully charged battery, test with key off, key on, at idle cold, at 2,500 rpm cold, once full temp, test again at idlr and at 2,500 rpms. Report back each of the findings, test at battery lugs.
