clutch slave cylinder
I recently replaced on my GL1500SE 1991 the swingarm bearing and seals. While i was in the area i decided to take a look at slave cylinder. To my suprise once i removed the slave I saw that the oil seal to the clutch cover was starting to corrode...humidity builds up inside the cover and damaged the seal, everybody is aware of the damage of brake oil in crankcase....so repacing of the seals and orings for the slave were replaced and reassembled everything. Also replaced the u-joint in the swingarm from transmission to drive shaft....no wear could be seen but to have clear conscience i replaced it......after all it has 185000km...happy trails and watch your steps....
Re: clutch slave cylinder
Every time i disassemble something on my wing i try to replace as much as i can while im in the general area. Due to the age of our bikes ive found out that if it doesnt need replacing now it will at some point, and peace of mind beats any parts cost. Usually its cheap stuff like seals or bearings, maybe a bushing or something like that
