Goldwing 1500 Rear Fender

Post by guitarzan »

Hello,
I'm trying to repair some of the plastic on my 1994 Goldwing SE 1500 and in order to do that, I have to remove the rear fender and I cant get the darn thing off. I have to whole rear lifted and tied off. I've removed all the hardware that I could find and it's hooked up under some other plastic somewhere that I cant see, and I don't want to break anything or take off a bunch of parts I don't need to. I've looked all over for a how to and I cant find any pictures of how to do it. Can anyone please help me, here's a picture of the part that I'm talking about.

Thank you

Frank

Have you removed the license plate bracket bolts?

Hello,
Yes,
I removed the license plate, the license plate bracket, the center reflector (I just ordered a light to replace the reflector), I can move it side to side a little, but that's it. I don't want to force anything, I've already broken some tabs and that long lower silver part by the passenger footrest. It would be great if there was a how to on removing all this plastic.

Thank you

You need to remove the saddlebags first. Once you've done that, removing the license plate bolts will allow it to come right out:

OMG,
I'm freaking out now, that makes me nervous for some reason, but If I have to, I have to. I'll get on that first thing tomorrow morning. Thank you all so much. This September will 5 years working on this, this year on the road for sure.

Thank you all

Removing the saddlebags is easy, you've already done the hard part. Four bolts, the release cable, and it will pop right off. You can see the procedure here as part of this article:
